A little taste of heaven...

If you want to know what our little taste of heaven was today... well it wasn't healthy, but it sure was good :) We found (thanks to the help of our co-conspirators the Marcums) a new donut shop here in Cochabamba! It's amazing and really tastes like real glazed donuts from the states... so when we had our monthly ladies meeting this morning at my house I decided it was well worth the trip (and a great excuse!) to pick up a dozen. So this morning we had a little piece of home on the kitchen table... and in our tummies :)

The proof :)

The remains :)

  1. It really is the little things that can make such a huge difference. I'm sure more and more treasures (food, people, stores) will continue to make themselves known while you're there, making Cochabamba more and more "home."

I'm sure the ladies were thrilled when they saw the box. There's nothing like sugary pastries to get the estrogen pumping!

  2. . . . all you need now is a little Blue Bell & Magic Shell!

Hope the donuts brought you closer to home!

  4. It's the small things that make all the difference, isn't it (and you're probably thinking -- what does she MEAN, small??? This is HUGE NEWS!!)?

What I mean is, you might not even be a big donut eater in the US, but because it is a taste of home, it's like you will do anything to have them...when we were in Togo, we would do anything -- I mean ANYTHING for an Oreo. When we found them in Ghana, we stocked up as if we were preparing for a storm and then hid them in our cupboards where no one could find them. Do I ever eat Oreos now that I can get them whenever I want them? Hardly ever. :)

  8. We were the same way when we lived in Alaska...we couldn't find donuts ANYWHERE...finally a place opened down the street and we were there every (and I really mean that) Saturday until we moved back to the lower 48...do I go to the Donut shop now? Of course not...is it because they are hard to find? Nope, they are about in every little strip shopping center around here. Gotta love those donuts...now I really want some!! Maybe we'll have to take a little outing tomorrow morning!
